At the Paris games she was the absolute favourite, and in front of a packed crowd at Le Bourget she did not disappoint. With performances that will long resonate in the international sporting world, she built on her achievement in Tokyo and became the first sports climber in history to defend the title of Olympic champion. Janja knew where she belonged – at the very summit of world climbing, as she also proved. The first lady of sports climbing did not hide her ambition, having announced three years ago that she was going to Paris with one sole objective, which she ultimately achieved.
