About Caspian Sea Oil Rocks
Azerbaijan’s oil platforms in the Caspian Sea are vital to the country’s energy sector. The development of offshore oil fields began in the mid-20th century with the construction of Neft Daşları (Oil Rocks) in 1949, the world’s first offshore oil platform. This paved the way for modern offshore drilling in the Caspian. Today, Azerbaijan operates numerous platforms, including major fields like Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG), which are central to its oil production. These platforms are crucial for extracting oil from beneath the seabed, driving both Azerbaijan's economy and energy exports.
