2024Anton Pieck - Stamp Booklet

With the issue of the Anton Pieck Stamp Booklet on 12 August, PostNL is meeting consumer demand for cards and stamps that are the same. This is the second time that PostNL has launched such a booklet, after the Een bloemengroet stamp booklet in 2022. The 6 greeting cards and 6 personal stamps from the new issue feature images of striking characters drawn by the famous Dutch illustrator Anton Pieck. The Anton Pieck Stamp Booklet was designed by Rachel Vergoossen and Yvonne Warmerdam from Orange Licensing in Gouda. The 6 personal stamps feature the value indication 1 for mail up to and including 20 grams with a destination within the Netherlands.

Anton Pieck (1895-1987) is one of the most famous Dutch illustrators of the 20th century. He developed his own style early on. The past, especially the 19th century, inspired him. Without intending to do so, he reached an audience of millions at home and abroad. Romantic irony and humorous scenes seemed tailor-made for Pieck. He possessed an inexhaustible source of ideas and had an eye for detail and nuances. His etchings, engravings, dry needles, woodcuts and lithographs attracted the attention of art connoisseurs and colleagues. Pieck is best known to the general public for his designs for the Efteling, his Christmas cards and the beautiful calendar plates, worked out in great detail.
