About 150 Years Since the First Stamp was issued in Iceland

Iceland is issuing a new minisheet since that it is a 150 years since the first stamp was issued in Iceland.

This minisheet has four stamps:

1. 50g to Europe – Shows wetlands or floods at Holtsós under Eyjafjöllum in Rangárþing eystra. Only a narrow ridge separates Holtsós from the turbulent Atlantic Ocean.

2. 100g to Europe – Shows an aurora corona, but coronas are traditionally considered the most impressive auroras. In the corona, the aurora borealis appears to originate at a single point with rays in all directions, and they are always fluctuating and colorful. The picture was taken in Kolgrafarfirði on the northern side of Snæfellsnesi.

3. 100g outside of Europe – Shows directly into the crater and the lava river from the Merardala eruption near Fagradalsfjalli in Reykjanesi, but the volcanic eruptions in Reykjanes began on March 19th 2021 with an eruption in Fagradalsfjalli.

4. 50g outside of Europe – Is from the Svínafellsjökull, battered and torn above Freysnes in Öræfum (Hotel Skaftafell). The glacier that falls west southwest from Öræfajökull. It is named after the town of Svínafell in Öræfum.
