The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) is a very rare bird included in the Red Book of Lithuania. The Barn Owl prefers to stay in pastures and in fields of uncut grass with a hilly landscape, where there is a high population of rodents. It feeds on mice, voles, shrews, and crickets. The Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium passerinum) is very rare, it is included in the Red Book of Lithuania. It is usually found in coniferous forests. It chooses the place for a nest in trees, in artificially created cavities, such as woodpeckers' hollows, starlings' nesting-boxes, or hollows of trees.
