About Year Set

On 20 October, Åland Post released this year’s stamp book A story through Åland stamps. All 2022 stamps are included in the book, carefully mounted by hand. The coffee table book with texts in four languages offers you a fine mix of real stamps and unique stories about Åland richly illustrated by photos. Join us on an adventure in the world of Åland stamps. With the book, you also receive a signed graphic sheet that is not otherwise for sale.

Åland Post is pleased to introduce the sixteenth edition of the hardcover stamp book A story through Åland stamps 2022. Following an appreci- ated design update last year, this exquisite coffee table book will attract both a local and international audience interested in discovering new sides of Åland. The stories in the book deepen and nuance the image

of stamp designs, stamps as art and cultural mirror, as well as life in Åland.

Read about stamp debuting artist Lasse Harkkala who shows the imagination-provoking original image of the “sjörå” for the 2022 stamp Europa - stories & myths on the cover of the book. You also meet tick researcher Marika Nordberg, learn more about the Åland building heritage in the company of building antiquarian Pia Sjöberg, and join the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Åland autonomy. The photographs were taken by internationally recognized photo artist Christoffer Relander.

The yearbook includes a bonus product that can only be obtained with the book: a specially produced graphic sheet of the FDC illustration for the Europa stamp featuring the “sjörå”, signed by the artist Lasse Harkkala.

Detailed facts about each stamp issue are listed for stamp enthusiasts. The stamps in the book have been mounted in foil pockets and affixed into the book by hand.
