The Blue Goddess painting is an art that used to take Nena Sanchez back to 1966, when she represented Curaçao in the Miss Universe pageant. Since then, she decided that she wanted to paint beautiful women, seen as goddesses. The Hibiscus Flower symbolizes romance, passion, beauty, and many other positive meanings. This flower has been Nena`s favorite of all times, which she enjoys painting its bright colors to share its beauty with others. In 2013, Nena Sanchez created the “Brown Lady” painting to commemorate the 150 years of the abolition of slavery, which is known to have occured in the year 1863. Also part of the series is the Trupial, which is known as the National bird of Curaçao, whose colors are bright orange, black, white, and can be spotted from a distance. These birds are well admired by the visitors and can be seen in many areas on the islands of Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire. The “Pink House” painting is showcasing the traditional history houses of Curaçao, with its opened wooden doors and windows showing a perfect sea view. Nena Sanchez was a Rooster in Chinese Astrology, which symbolizes brightness, ambition, warm-heartedness, and independence.
