50th Anniversary: Diplomatic Relations Austria - China
The above title in Chinese script is depicted on the stamp. China's national flowers - the peonies - and typical Austrian edelweiss flowers decorate the stamp in the style of a Chinese painting.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Austria and the People's Republic of China were officially established on May 28, 1971. Outside the EU, China is one of Austria's most important economic partners. Cultural ambassadors such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra or the Vienna Boys’ Choir, the "Wiener Sängerknaben", contribute to the fact that guests from China are an important part of domestic tourism.
Alongside the fields of business and culture, there is also a lively exchange between China and Austria in educational matters. A symbol of the good cooperation between the two countries are the pandas at the Schönbrunn Zoo, which are on loan from China.
The new stamp, whose red lettering has been enhanced with a special varnish, will be available at a face value of EUR 4.30 with a circulation of 120,000 stamps in blocks of 1.
