Locomotiv GT (abbreviated as LGT, and known by its fans as Loksi) is one of Hungarian rock music’s most influential bands. In the name of the band, the letters GT stand for Gran Turismo, a reference to the long way ahead of the members and the locomotive type. Officially, the band was established on 6 April 1971 by Tamás Barta, Károly Frenreisz, Gábor Presser and József Laux. By that time the founders were well-known musicians with successful careers. Their first album came out in December 1971. After 1977, their albums were made by and they appeared on stage with the same line-up: János Karácsony (vocals, guitar), Gábor Presser (vocals, keyboard instruments), János Solti (drums, percussion instruments) and Tamás Somló (vocals, bass guitar, saxophone, mouth organ). On 19 July 2016 Tamás Somló died after a long, serious illness. On 4 September, János Karácsony, Gábor Presser and János Solti officially announced that L.G.T. would no longer be working together.
