It is mostly brown in color, with a brighter part around the neck. The tail is strong and used for floating. It has a thin skin between the fingers that helps it move through the water. The paws are strong, they contain pads and claws, suitable for digging and catching prey.The otter is a protected and endangered species in Europe, while in Montenegro it is protected by the Decision on placing certain plant and animal species under protection.
