The painter Ferdynand Ruszczyc (1870–1936)was born in Belarus, lived in Vilnius for most of his life, where he not only engaged in artistic activities but also became actively involved in the cultural life of the city. F. Ruszczyc admired the impressive landscapes, which did not lack symbolism. The work "Autumn Wind" depicted on the postage stamp is one of the most popular works in the history of Lithuanian art, often associated with the origins of expressionist painting in the country. The artist Pranciškus Smuglevičius (1745–1807) is considered not only the most famous classicist artist in Lithuania, but also one of the pioneers of this genre in Europe. Most of his works are religious in theme, but there is also a household genre. The latter is the painting "Lithuanian Peasants".
