1993Natural Beauties of Herzeg-Bosna - The Kravica Waterfall - First Day Cover

Downstream the river Trebižat, 7 km from Ljubuški, is the waterfall Kravica, a rare natural phenomenon in the limestone rocks. A part of the natural heritage, it has been under the protection of the Government since 1954. The place owes its impressive beauty to the sedimentations of travestine (deposed calcite carbonate dissolved in water) which can be found in large quantities on the bottom and on the banks of the river bed. The water comes pouring down from height of 28 and forms a 120 m wide water amphitheatre at the bottom.
