KEP begins its philatelic program for 2019 by issuing a postage stamp dedicated to the Chinese New Year, which is called the Year of the Yellow Earth Pig (Boar), according to the Chinese calendar. This year starts on February 5, 2019 and ends on January 24, 2020. The KEP stamp will be put into circulation on January 31.
The Boar is the twelfth of the Chinese zodiac animals and announces the end of the twelve-year cycle of the animals in Chinese astrology. Therefore, this year will be important for all the zodiac signs.
In Chinese culture, pigs are the symbol of wealth. Their chubby faces and big ears are also signs of prosperity. The Yellow Earth Pig is diligent and persistent, which means that the motto of this year will be “steady progress”. During this year, teaching, philanthropy and spirituality will also be particularly important.
The new KEP stamp represents a boar on a traditional symbolic background, made using hot gold foil stamping.
KEP wishes all its friends and customers a very Happy New Year with good health, happiness, prosperity, joy and great success in all endeavors.
