About 140 Years of Banjaluka Brewery
Banja Luka Brewery was founded in 1873 Founders of the brewery are the monks of the monastery Marija Zvijezda the Trappist order. The monastery is located near the brewery. Trappists belong to the religious order who lives according to the rules of St. Benedict. These monks belonging to the Trappist order known in the world by the old tradition of preparing good monastery beer, whose recipes are guarded through the ages.
Trappists came to Banja Luka in mid-19th century, buying land in Delibasino village, founded the monastery and began its work. The founder of the monastery and the mover of all activity, and thus the founder of the Banja Luka Brewery was monk Franc Pfaner.
