Father Slavko Barbaric, known Franciscan from Medjugorje, died on November 24. 2000 after the completion of Way of the Cross, on the Hill of Krizevac. He was born in 1946 as the son of Marko and Luca Barbaric in Dragicina (Čitluk). He made his vows in 1971, studied in Sarajevo, Graz and Freiberg where he, in 1982, obtained his doctorate in religious pedagogy and the title of psychotherapist. Since 1982, with few interruptions, he was working tirelessly in Medjugorje, passing the messages of peace of Our Lady. He led Eucharistic adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, veneration of the Cross, the Rosary on Apparition Hill and the Way of the Cross on the Hill of Krizevac, special annual meetings for priests and youth as well as seminars on prayer and fasting.
