About 100th Ann of International Women`s Day

At the beginning of 20th century, during the rapid industrialization and economic growth, and also the bad working conditions especially for women, the idea of marking International Women’s Day has emerged. On 8th March 1908, 15.000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter working hours, better pay and voting rights. Over a hundred women from 17 countries have been participating at the International conference which was held in Copenhagen in 1910. At Clare Zetkin’s proposal, who had a major impact on the international socialist movement, it was decided that the 8th March should be declared as International Women’s Day.
