Concordat was signed in Rome in the 1886 year between the Vatican and the Government of Montenegro, which defined publicity and freedom of action of the Catholic Church in Montenegro. The conclusion of the Agreement, by which Prince Nikola wanted to separate the Catholic Church in Montenegro and make it independent from Bishop of Skadar, was mediated by Josip Juraj Strossmayer. The first Archbishop of Bar was Šimun Milinović. He, as well as archbishops succeeding him, was obliged to take an oath of fidelity to a Montenegrin sovereign and establish parishes through an agreement with the Government. The Agreement that was ratified on 07.10.1886 was a significant contribution to already good interconfessional relations in Montenegro. Post of Montenegro within the edition titled “125 Years from the Concordat between Montenegro and the Holy See” publishes apposite edition of postage stamps containing one stamp, one Maksima map and a First Day Cover. Author of the preliminary design is Ana Pajović Kljajić, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
