About Art in Montenegro through the centuries
Montenegrin women's costume was adorned by a silver belt made of several plates (usually three, five, seven or nine) produced by using the techniques of casting, forging and filigree with decorative stones arranged on plates. They were typically 5-8 cm wide, and the length depended on the number of plates. Ćemer represents a distinct symbiosis of antique, oriental and Mediterranean cultural influences in the field of clothing and jewellery. The Montenegro Post is publishing a commemorative postage stamp entitled “Ćemer” within the edition “Art in Montenegro through Centuries 2015” containing two postage stamps and two First Day envelopes. The author of the conceptual design is Zoran Popović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
