Balsic dynasty (1360-1421), a Montenegrin medieval dynasty, the second one in sequence. The Balsics were the descendants of the lord Balsa, a powerful feudal lord in Zeta. Balsa I Balsic, a founder of the dynasty, had three sons: Stradimir (died-1372), Djuradj (1362-1378) and Balsa II (1378-1385). As Lords of Zeta they appeared yet in 1360 and a year later they managed to restore independence and sovereignty of the state of Zeta. The rule of the Balsic dynasty was established in Zeta, Bar, Budva, Northern Albania, Drivast and Prizren, Konavle, Trebinje and Dracevina. Balsa II was succeeded by his nephew Djuradj II Stratimirovic Balsic (1385-1403). Upon death of Balsa III, the Balsic dynasty ceased to exist. In the history of Montenegro the Balsic dynasty keeps a special place and primarily, as relying on tradition and awareness of the earlier Duklja state heritage, because they managed to make Zeta independent and constitute it as an independent state. Post of Montenegro on the occasion of 650 years of the Balsic dynasty, publishes an appropriate edition of stamps containing one stamp and an Envelope on the first day. Author of the preliminary design is Marko Zogovic from Podgorica.
