2008International Day of Diversity Grave of Moss Danon - Set

The grave of the rabbi of Sarajevo Mosha Danon, the very respected member of the Jewish community is not only a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it has a significant place in the spiritual and material culture of the Jewish people. The Rabbi Mosha Danon started his way to Palestine in 1830 in order to perform the vow, but he died near Stolac. He was buried at the site of his death, and the stone monument at his grave symbolizes the plaques on which are written the Ten God's commandments.The legendary events of 1819 preceded the trip of Moshe Danon to the holy land when the Travnik Jewish Moshe Haviljo was converted to Islam and began to incite the Moslems against his rival countrymen. After he was found dead, all the distinguished members of the Jewish community of Sarajevo were accused and emprisonned. At the rumors spread that all emprisonned would be killed, the armed inhabitants of Sarajevo - Moslems, surrounded the palace of the Ruždi-pasha and liberated the captured Jewishs. Rabbi Danon made a vow that he would go to Palestine if he was saved from the prison and that if he died during the trip, he was buried on the site of his death. The Croatian post ltd.
