European nettle tree (Celtis australis) is a deciduous tree that grows in the Mediterranean and can be 20-25 m in height. It is considered that some European nettle trees are old over a thousand years, and by ageing bumps and grooves appears on them. The tree is very hard, supple and durable and great for processing by turning, and from flexible thin strips walking stick are made.
