Italian composer Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi was born on 10th October 1813 in the village of Le Roncole near Busseto in the province of Parma in a poor family. The first musical lessons he received from village teacher and organist. In the 1826 Antonio Barezzi noticed a gifted young man and he will later become Verdi’s benefactor and at whose initiative he created his first compositions.
Giuseppe Verdi is certainly a unique figure in the history of opera, the composer whose oeuvre is still expending special musical energy directed at the widest audience. He marked his time like no other person living modestly, under the influence of nobody, and left to the future to bring final assessment on his opus. Verdi’s works still persist and nothing can replace them.
He gives a great emphasis on the literary value of the libretto trying to combine traditional Italian opera with the dramatic text. He gains his international fame with his opera "Nabucco“ in which he enrobe patriotic ideas into historical content. His greatest successes were his operas "Rigoletto“, "Il Trovatore“ and "La Traviata“. Second great success came in 1871 with his opera “Aida” which premiered in Cairo in 1871 for the celebration of opening the Suez Canal. In his 73rd year of life, he composed "Otello“ and in eighty "Falstaff“ whose premiere in the theatre La Scala in 1893 was the highlight of Verdi’s fame. Genius composer is author of 26 operas, grandiose Requiem, sacred cycles Quattro pezzi sacri, and skillfully composed String Quartet......Giuseppe Verdi died on 27 January 1901 in Milan. On his last rest he was accompanied by a chorus of nine hundred singers who sang Va pensiero from "Nabucco“.
