About 100th Death Anniversary of Friar Radoslav Glavas

Friar Radoslav Glavaš was born in Drinovci on November 28th, 1867. He was baptized by Friar Paško Buconjić on December 1st, 1867. His baptismal name is Andrija. His parents are Ante and Iva nee Nuić. He went to school for priests in Široki Brijeg. There he finished his high school education and went to Humac where he dressed up a Franciscan habit on November 26th, 1883. He continued his philosophical and theological study in Perugia – Italy and took holy vows on December 18th, 1887. He continued and finished his study in Innsbruck – Austria where he was ordained a priest on August 3rd, 1890. He returns to Herzegovina as a professor at the Seminary in Široki Brijeg from where he occasionally goes to Assisi where he gains the title of professor of Seminary. In 1895, he became the first dean of Seminary in Mostar. He was the Secretary of Province, definitor, and from 1904 he was the Secretary of the Bishop Buconjić, and after his death, he managed Diocese until the election of the new bishop.
He revives the work of Croatian printing F.P and runs newspaper "Osvit“ in 1898. He founded the magazine "Kršćanska obitelj“ in 1900 and in 1902 he founded Croatian association for support of poor students and actively participates in all activities for improvement spiritual and material welfare of Croatian people in Herzegovina. He writes and publishes "The memorial of Herzegovinian Franciscan life“, "Life and work of friar Rafa Barišić“, "A little more of the truth“, "The policy of Bosnian - Herzegovinian Franciscans till. 1878.“, "The Bishop friar Paškal Buconjić“, "The life of Jesus Christ“. He has worked as correspondent in magazines "Osvit“, "Kršćanska obitelj“, "Serafski perivoj“, "Večernji sarajevski list“, "Hrvatska obrana“ etc.
He is one of the most famous Franciscans of his time, died in the Humac on July 20th, 1913 and was buried in the Friar’s grave at the New Cemetery. With his religious and priestly life as well as with cultural, literary and social activities he remained remembered and respected to this day. (Friar Ante Marić)
