"“Vasas Sport Club was founded on 16 March 1911, on the initiative of Géza Malasits, politician of the Hungarian Social Democratic Party, with the participation of thousands of people. During its history of 100 years the sports association was interested in 30 different branches of sport, and today, according to the Statutes of the club, it has 17 sections. During the decades the sportsmen and sportswomen of the red and blue association won 44 Olympic gold medals, more than 40 world championship and European championship titles, and more than 1,500 national championship titles. Among the prominent persons who enhanced the reputation of Vasas Sports Club were Imre Németh and Miklós Németh, athletes, Rudolf Illovszky, the legendary trainer, János Farkas and Kálmán Mészöly, football players, Csaba Hegedűs, who won the 100th Olympic title for Hungary, and István Kozma, the other wrestling icon. As tennis players were members of the Vasas Club Zsuzsa Körmöczy, who won Roland Garros and Balázs Taróczy, who became champion of Wimbledon. László Papp, György Gedó and István Kovács played box in this club. Rudolf Kárpáti and Pál Kovács were fencers here. Everyone still admires waterpolo players László Jeney, István Szívós and Kálmán Markovits, similarly to the ”triumvirate” of Faragó-Csapó-Kenéz. A series of personalities, such as Amália Sterbinszky, Erzsébet Gulyás Köteles, Kálmán Ihász, Margit Korondi won laurels for Angyalföld and international recognition for Hungarian universal sport. …In the next 100 years the main aim of Vasas remains to keep the excellent sportsmen and sportswomen belonging to the club, help the preparation of as many sportsmen and sportswomen as possible who are likely to win Olympic medals, continuously improve the quality of coaching the second line, pass on the love of sports to the youngest generation and ensure the infrastructure needed for all this.” (Source: Blue and red centenary – László Markovits: Bound by the past) The stamp welcoming the centenary of the foundation of Vasas Sport Club is red and blue, which are the colours of Vasas Sport Club, and it also has the logo of the club.
