Having launched the now famous cork stamp two years ago, CTT Correios de Portugal is proud to present in 2009 a second absolute novelty in the field of global Philately: a set of stamps devoted to the five senses, each one allowing the respective physical sensation.
The issue appears in the wake of the theme proposed by the Universal Postal Union during the year of bicentennial of the birth of Louis Braille. It was inspired by this issue that the author of this book organised it, calling attention to everything that can still be discovered in stamps, over and above these five senses.
However, in this Portugal in Stamps there is also another source of interest:this is the 27th volume of an annual collection, never interrupted, published in limited, numbered editions, with original, bilingual texts, in which the year's stamps are brought together.
Here, too, we are faced with a Portuguese singularity, for these books were not only pioneers in the field of philately, but they also motivated more than a hundred other titles, all illustrated with stamps and published exclusively by CTT.
So, Portuguese Philately is at the root of a modern cultural industry, transfiguring and adding value to these postal-service receipts that we call stamps. What more could management of a company want than to add value?
