The beginning of Romanian diplomacy, acknowledged as such in official documents, dates back to the Middle Ages. During the reign of Stephen the Great (Stefan cel Mare), the Ruler’s messenger, Ioan Tamblac, conducted diplomatic missions of paramount importance in Venice and Vatican.
