About 100 Years of the Spanish Cement Manufacturers' Association OFICEMEN

The Agrupación de fabricantes de cemento de España was founded in 1925 thanks to the vision of a group of pioneering industrialists who, as early as the end of the 19th century, opted for a new binding agent - Portland cement - which has continued to evolve until the present day and will continue to do so in line with the needs of future generations.

Today, the cement industry has a wide portfolio of products ranging from the most classic cements - those for masonry - and those for the preparation of standard concrete, to the most special and specific performance cements.

Many changes and progress have also been made in the way of producing and in industrial facilities over the last hundred years, up to the total transformation of today, where digitalisation and climate neutrality are the cornerstones.

Progress is inconceivable without cement and its main derivative, concrete, the most consumed artificial good in the world after water. They have been the essential allies of the social development that our country has experienced; and they will continue to be so in order to implement the design of more sustainable construction models, which balance the welfare of citizens.

Oficemen celebrates its 100th anniversary as the oldest industrial employers' association in Spain. It maintains intact its aims in defence of the interests of the cement industry, while exploring new lines of sectorial, institutional and social collaboration, in order to contribute with its activity to the dynamism of the Spanish economy.

Oficemen's mission has always been to build bridges that allow meeting and exchange; and it will continue to do so in order to achieve a sustainable, decarbonised, inclusive future full of opportunities for all.

Correos joins the centenary celebration by issuing a stamp in which a green illustration represents a cement factory, the colour chosen refers both to the OFICEMEN logo and its commitment to sustainability.
