Western Azerbaijan was historically one of the oldest and most geographically diverse regions of Azerbaijan. It was strategically located along important caravan routes that connected the northern and southern parts of Azerbaijan, as well as the entire Caucasus and the Near East.
Currently, this land is recognized as Armenia, though its territory holds significant historical importance as part of Azerbaijan's ancestral lands. Numerous cultural artifacts, including ancient settlements, burial mounds, fortresses, palaces, defensive structures, caravanserais, bridges, mosques, and shrines, serve as enduring evidence of this historical connection.
Blue Mosque - In the works of all travelers and researchers describing the city of Iravan, it was mentioned as the most magnificent architectural monument of the city. Considered one of the rare examples of Eastern architecture, the construction of the Blue Mosque began in 1760 and was completed in 1765 during the reign of Huseynali Khan.
