The Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to commemorate the extraordinary life and work of Archibald Knox (1864 - 1933) with this stunning collection of ten stamps. Inspired by the KNOX: Order & Beauty exhibition - the largest showcase of Knox’s work ever staged - this issue celebrates the timeless beauty and ingenuity of one of the Isle of Man’s most iconic designers.
Knox’s work, renowned for its fusion of Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, and Celtic Revival styles, continues to inspire designers and art lovers worldwide. From intricate jewellery and silverware for Liberty & Co. to his deeply personal watercolour landscapes, Knox’s creations reflect the harmony of natural beauty, artistic brilliance, and the rich heritage of the Isle of Man.
This collection, created in collaboration with Manx National Heritage and the Archibald Knox Forum, features ten exquisite designs showcasing a range of Knox’s remarkable creations, many of which are part of the KNOX: Order & Beauty exhibition. Each stamp highlights a standout piece, offering a glimpse into Knox’s versatility and artistry.
From elegant jewellery pieces and intricate silverware to vibrant watercolours and book illustrations, these stamps celebrate Knox’s extraordinary legacy. His designs reflect the influence of the Isle of Man’s landscapes, Celtic and Norse heritage, and the tranquillity of his Sulby studio, where much of his finest work was created.
