Christmas
Windows to the soul
The new Christmas stamps are reminiscent of small windows in an Advent calendar. Looking through them reveals a design within the design: idyllic winter landscapes that invite you to pause for a moment.
Landscapes billowing in soft cotton wool, warm lights and starry snow crystals falling slowly from the sky: if you look out of the window in winter, you’ll quite often find a little door – a door to the world of your own thoughts. The new Christmas designs pick up on this special peculiarity of wintertime, with a stylized window in the form of a typical Christmas symbol taking center stage on each stamp. If you take the time to peer out of the little windows, you’ll discover idyllic winter landscapes – a design within the design. As such, the images encourage you to enjoy a moment of profound contemplation, whether
it’s reflecting on the year just gone or thinking of the year ahead. At the same time, the festive season is not only a good opportunity to pause for a moment, but also to bring joy to others: “Christmas is a lovely time, and a popular time for sending personal words to people close to you in the form of cards or letters. For me and my team, it is a pleasure to make our contribution with atmospheric stamps,” says Isabelle Bühler, Stamps & Philately Product Manager at Swiss Post.
