UNESCO World Heritage - Republic of Korea (Geneva)
A World Heritage Site is a landmark or area with legal protection by an international convention administered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). World Heritage Sites are designated by UNESCO for having cultural, historical, scientific, or other significance and are considered to be of outstanding value to humanity.
What makes the concept of World Heritage exceptional is its universal application. World Heritage sites belong to all the peoples of the world, irrespective of the territory on which they are located.
For over 25 years, the United Nations Postal Administration has issued stamps featuring UNESCO World Heritage sites. For its 2024 series, UNPA showcases six cultural and natural sites from the Republic of Korea.
