The Almagro International Classical Theater Festival is a crossroads and complicity that was born in 1978 and that has become, in recent years, the world reference center for the dissemination of the Spanish Golden Age. Over time and with the help of different sensitivities and artistic directions, and thanks to the support of the Board of Trustees, the Almagro Festival has demonstrated the vigor and validity of the Golden Age, signing beautiful stages of a path along which talent, passion and effort.
Every July, the city of Almagro becomes a meeting point for citizens, artists and professionals of the performing arts and music for 25 days. During this month, more than a hundred activities are organized, including stage performances, exhibitions, workshops, laboratories, colloquiums and many other creative experiences that dialogue with the gastronomy, architecture, nature and crafts of the territory we inhabit, Almagro and Castilla la Mancha. Thus, the Almagro Festival is a long-awaited event that provides a mix of different perspectives on the Golden Age, transforms the city and provokes curiosity to know its history through artistic creation.
This new stage, led by Irene Pardo, has the will to reclaim Almagro as a shared space, a place of celebration and reflection; to fill stage spaces, museums, streets and squares with theater, music, dance and circus, highlighting our artistic wealth and seducing audiences with new narratives that keep curiosity alert and cross the limits of convention. With the responsibility of someone who receives a legacy built over the years and has to take care of it and make it grow, and from the conviction that culture is the raw material that builds a freer and happier society, we invite you to live the Festival, enjoy and feel Almagro.
