There is no society in which there were not some types of games that took the form of a sports game. Back in ancient Egypt, they enjoyed boxing, wrestling and archery. On pharaonic monuments in Egypt, there are drawings created two thousand years ago that depict competitions in tug-of-war, swimming and other disciplines. Because of those drawings, many believe that it was the Egyptians who invented the rules of numerous sports, because then they already had something similar to today's jerseys and then the winners received prizes. Sport was important in ancient civilizations, and it is the same today. Today, it really has value in life and has become a global social phenomenon.
It is true that the game has always had importance and is not only a characteristic of modern society, but also of primitive societies, because that game was an integral part of their work, religion and philosophy of life. Today, thanks to the media, certain sports events have become globally popular, and in the past, sports news was obtained in different ways than today, because there was neither television nor the Internet. From the runners of the Marathon field until the late Middle Ages, the only way to transmit messages over long distances was carrier pigeons or couriers in the service of rulers, military leaders and lords. Regardless of everything, sport has always been a pastime, an escape from everyday life. We have witnessed that even today, many viewers forget about their worries when they immerse themselves in the sports action that is shown on television screens. That is why sport lasts, because it is not just a game and entertainment, but a spectacle and phenomenon of everyday life. Sports and sports games always express the very "spirit" of the society to which they belong.
