Unicef Children’s Mental Health - The Right To Health
Romfilatelia introduces into circulation, on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 the postage stamps issue entitled UNICEF. Children’s Mental Health. The Right to Health, having the honourable mission of supporting the initiative launched by this prestigious organization, Romania for every child.
Every child and adolescent’s mental health must be a priority for decision makers and stakeholders in every community.
UNICEF reaffirms the right of every child to good mental health and wellbeing, and the need for investment in every community to make this right a reality for children and young people.
The mental health of children and adolescents has an impact on many aspects of their lives. Children and adolescents who live in poverty, are exposed to violence, are neglected or are in the midst of humanitarian crises, are most at risk of mental health problems. Prolonged exposure to stress can have a serious neuro-biological impact on children’s immediate and long-term health, development and well-being. The causes of poor lifelong mental health emerge in childhood but are not inevitable. Factors that reduce the risk of developing mental disorders include caring parents and carers, a safe educational environment and positive community relationships.
Early action to support children and their carers is the best investment we can make to promote good mental health and address the complex mental health issues children are facing today.
UNICEF and its partners are working to change the public conversation about mental health, combat the stigma around mental health issues and bring essential services where children and their families - especially vulnerable ones - are.
Every child must be given the best possible start in life. Their nations and the whole world depend on it.
Present in 190 countries and territories around the world, UNICEF works in Romania with key actors, such as the Government, the Parliament, local authorities, civil society, the private sector, national and international partners, and the media to ensure access for all children to quality early education, schooling, good mental health, protection of adolescents and monitoring of children’s rights, social protection and resource mobilization for children.
Together we can truly build a Romania for every child!
The postage stamp of the philatelic issue presents an optimistic and empathetic image in which joy is present in a hug of two children supported by UNICEF.
The image of the First Day Cover reflects the atmosphere of consultancy and participation of children who are encouraged to explain according to their experience the meaning of words that define real situations in the behaviour and realities of their lives.
Romfilatelia thanks the UNICEF Representation in Romania for its collaboration and documentary support in the creation of this issue of postage stamps. The photographs were taken by Mrs Ioana Moldovan and Mr Adrian Holerga.
