About Solidarity Stamp - Project Man

Correos issues a new stamp of the Solidarity Stamp series dedicated to Proyecto Hombre. As in previous years, it consists of a stamp with the logo of the organisation and a vignette with an illustration by Marina Anaya.

In 1984 Proyecto Hombre was born as a non-governmental welfare response to the phenomenon known as "the heroin epidemic" that was occurring in Spain.

In this context of fear, social alarm and ignorance, drugs were at the top of society's list of concerns.

One year later, in 1985, the National Plan on Drugs (Ministry of Health) was created, which recognised Proyecto Hombre as a reference organisation in the field of addictions.

Since then, Proyecto Hombre, under a biopsychosocial approach centred on the person, continues to offer treatment adapted to the current demands and needs of both men and women in a situation of special vulnerability, due to their addiction problems, through outpatient, residential and specific resources.

The biopsychosocial approach of Proyecto Hombre pursues the maturation and growth of the person, a methodology that considers that addictions are a symptom of a problem that lies within the person.

Annually (data from 2022) 16,971 people receive treatment and more than 108,000 (including young people and their families) benefit from prevention programmes.

Today, the organisation is one of the largest Spanish NGOs dedicated to prevention, treatment and reintegration in the field of addictions and has 28 centres located in 15 autonomous communities, being a reference at national level, but also at international level: since 2007, the organisation holds consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

The organisation is the effort of many people. The Proyecto Hombre team is made up of more than 1,300 workers and more than 2,000 volunteers who, from their vocation of solidarity, collaborate to help people in difficulty or at a social disadvantage, helping them to develop personally, regain their autonomy and integrate into society.

Over the years, the addiction panorama has evolved, presenting greater complexity and diversity, with the appearance of new substances and potentially addictive behaviours such as gambling, video games, social networks... However, the organisation Proyecto Hombre remains more committed than ever to its work.
