György Korda, whose career spans more than six decades, is one of the best- known performers of Hungarian dance music. He first appeared on stage in 1958, reaping his first success with the song Szeretni kell (One must love). In the early 1960s, he was one of the most popular singers in the country. The rise of the beat
did not favour the ‘traditional’ dance song style, but he was one of those who managed to remain successful. His wife, Klári Balázs, is a singer with a career of more than four decades. In 1981 they recorded their first duet, Nem hozol több rózsát (You don’t bring roses any more), and since 1986 until now, they have released albums together.
In 2002, they received the Márta Záray-János Vámosi Cultural, Artistic and Memorial Foundation Award and in 2007 the Artisjus Music Lifetime Achievement Award. In the spring of 2023, they performed to a packed house at one of the outdoor venues most favoured by young people, Budapest Park, where they partied together with more than 10,000 fans and received the Fonogram Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hungarian Recording Industry Association (MAHASZ).
On the occasion of György Korda’s 85th birthday, the popular duo are to give the audience an unrepeatable concert experience on 11 May 2024 at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena, as part of the KORDA 85 - Folly of Youth Birthday Concert Show.
