Paris Summer Olympic Games
This summer, the 33rd Olympic Summer Games take place in Paris. For the first time in history, an equal number of women and men will compete.
The Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024. This is the third time the French capital has hosted the event. The first time was in 1900, which was also the first time female athletes were permitted, with 22 women competing in the disciplines of tennis, golf and sailing. The second time, in 1924, the proportion of female ath- letes was around four percent. Today, around 100 years later, women are dead even for the first time in terms of partici- pation rates. Swiss Olympic is expecting 120 athletes to represent Switzerland in Paris. It remains to be seen whether this will include B-boys and B-girls competing in the breakdance events, which are part of the Olympics for the first time.
