175 Years Swiss Post
What does Swiss Post stand for? A broad question that was addressed by Lucerne students of graphic design as part of a competition held 175 years after the company’s foundation. Their answers packed into a small format – the commemorative stamp.
From coaches to e-mobility and from “little yellow books” to e-banking. Since it was founded in 1849, Swiss Post has always been dynamic, adapting to society’s changing needs. But how does the general public see Swiss Post today? Young people, for example? This is precisely the question addressed by the commemorative stamp. Which is why Swiss Post held a com- petition open to students of graphic design in collaboration with the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art. The prize was implementation of the best idea. “We made a conscious deci- sion to partner with students, because we wanted to give young designers the opportunity to showcase themselves and their ideas,” explains Corinne Lutz, Product Manager at Swiss Post.
The two related stamp designs produced by the winners sym- bolize Swiss Post’s unifying and connecting role and make for a fascinating sheet of stamps. The fresh colour combination of pinks and yellows stands in contrast to the traditional symbols.
