About International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The 11th of February marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, established in 2015 by the UN with the aim of encouraging equal access of women to science, promoting gender equity and achieving full equality of opportunity in scientific careers. To commemorate the valuable contributions of famous female scientists in the field of astrophysics, the postal series reproduces illustrations related to a Be emission star, an Epsilon Aurigae star and stellar spectroscopy.
