About Tribute to Marcel Pagnol and Prince Pierre of Monaco
Marcel Pagnol (1895-1974) made a lasting impression on the Alpes-Maritimes region and the Principality, where he was a regular resident from 1943 to 1954. In Monaco, he created a play in 1926, Jazz, organized the premiere of his film, Topaze, in 1951. Member of the Literary Council since its creation in 1950, he chaired the jury of the first Television Festival in 1961. Pagnol was the friend of Prince Rainier III, but also of his father, Prince Pierre (1895-1964), a great patron of art and literature. The year 2024 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the writer's death and the 60th anniversary of that of Prince Pierre.
