About Chinese Zodiac - Year of the Wood Dragon

For stamp collectors and for amateurs of predictions of personal destinies, Romfilatelia introduces into circulation a traditional philatelic issue, the Chinese Zodiac. Year of the Wood Dragon, composed of a postage stamp with the value of Lei 25 and a First Day Cover. The issue will be available to those who want to acquire it starting on Thursday, February 8th, 2024.

Unlike the European Zodiac, the Chinese Zodiac corresponds to a period of approximately one year. The signs begin with the Chinese New Year, on the second New Moon after the winter solstice, so it is not always celebrated on the same date. It is divided into 12 sections, but each of them belongs to an animal: tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, pig, rat, and ox. A cycle of the Chinese Zodiac lasts 60 years. During this time, all signs pass, in turn, through each of the following five elements: metal, water, wood, fire and earth.

The 2024 Chinese New Year begins on February 10th, 2024 and ends on January 28th, 2025. It is the Year of the Wood Dragon.

The dragon is considered the most powerful sign in the Chinese zodiac and is considered a symbol of power and energy. The element wood, associated with the sign of the Dragon, illustrates the flowering and revival of nature, ushering in a period of a vigorous beginning. According to predictions, the Year 2024 will be characterised by practical aspects and material wealth.

The Dragon, a mythological creature, is endowed with extraordinary powers and it is perceived in the Chinese tradition as a symbol of the imperial power and of the male principle, Yang, associated with stability and reliability. As a consequence, a year of noticeable progress is announced, in which the nurturing and supportive Earth element will stimulate growth and development.

The Year of the Wood Dragon can also bring challenges, particularly related to pride. Although intelligent and creative, the Dragon can become sensitive and stubborn, especially in conflict situations.

Children born in 2024 will stand out with a strong and independent personality. These confident and courageous little dragons will not recognize authority, relying only on facts, and will be highlighted for their curiosity, their ability to defuse conflict situations and fearlessness in the face of competition.

According to astrologers, the Year 2024 will give everyone the chance to feel their own strength and participate in large-scale events, in a world found in an environment of visible progress in all areas of life to which we add a fulfilled hope for peace and concord.
