In 2021 a series dedicated to new football stadiums began and this 2023 it is resumed with the new Bernabeu stadium, the Bernabeu of the 21st century.
In 1943, Santiago Bernabéu became president of Real Madrid and set in motion one of his greatest projects: the construction of a stadium that would meet the demands of an increasingly popular sport and a club that was growing all the time. Since then, the Bernabéu has been transformed over the decades to become, today, an icon of world sport and of the city of Madrid, the best stadium in the world.
The extraordinary location of the Bernabéu in the heart of the Spanish capital is a unique and differential quality. Its urban location on the Paseo de la Castellana, in the financial heart of Spain and the most important economic area of the country, gives it a unique and special character.
The spectacular renovation of the stadium's surroundings will benefit the citizens of Madrid and those who come to visit it. The project improves the urban environment of the stadium, with the redevelopment and landscaping of 66,700 m², and the creation of a new public square.
The transformation of the Bernabéu is a firm commitment to a digital stadium, turning it into a technological platform from which we can interact with members, supporters and fans from all over the world at all times. A Bernabéu adapted to the demands of the 21st century sports industry.
The result of the remodelling of the stadium offers us an enveloping, singular and avant-garde image, a skin of steel bands and variable lines that allows for the illumination and projection of images and that will include a fixed and a retractable cover of the pitch, so that all the seats are protected.
The new Bernabéu also has unique spaces in the form of an auditorium with convention rooms for events, congresses and large meetings, both corporate and for third parties. Together with the commercial areas, it becomes an operational stadium 365 days a year.
