About 18th Anniversary H.R.H. The Princess of Asturias

Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, Doña Leonor de Borbón y Ortiz, is the eldest daughter of Their Majesties the Kings of Spain, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia.

She was born in Madrid on the last day of October 2005.

She is the Heir to the Crown since the proclamation of her father as King on June 19, 2014. In accordance with the provisions of art. 57.2. of the Constitution, from that moment on she holds the dignity of Princess of Asturias, along with the titles of Princess of Girona and Princess of Viana, corresponding to the first-born children of the Kingdom of Castile, the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of Navarra, whose union formed the Spanish Monarchy in the 16th century. She also holds the titles of Duchess of Montblanc, Countess of Cervera and Lady of Balaguer.

In 2023, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias turns 18. For this reason, she has begun her military training, which will take her over the next three years to go through the three armies, to fulfill her role as future captain general of all the Armed Forces.

The Spanish Constitution states in article 61 of Title II, of the Crown, that "the Crown Prince, upon reaching the age of majority, and the Regent or Regents upon taking charge of their functions, will take the same oath", something that the princess will do after her birthday.

Correos wanted to pay tribute to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Asturias on her 18th birthday by issuing a stamp in which she appears alone and with a foil treatment that gives the issue a modern and solemn character to such an important date.
