150th Anniversary of Danilo I Hospital

Danilo I” Hospital was built by Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš in 1873. Ever since its establishment, this institution has borne the name of Nikola’s predecessor, Prince Danilo, who brought the first court physicians to Cetinje in 1858 and thus practically initiated the practising of scientific medicine in Cetinje and Montenegro.

This hospital has had an invaluable role in Montenegro’s healthcare system. It was developed on modern scientific bases and served as the backbone for the development of healthcare services and health culture in the country in the following decades.
