About Lithuanian Estates, Manor House

One of the new stamps depicts the eastern office of Verkiai manor, the other shows the palace of Traku Voke manor.

Both manors in the capital are well known to many Vilnius residents - these objects have become a favorite place for residents to spend their free time, which is visited at all times of the year.

Located in Vilnius, on the steep banks of the Neris, at the mouth of the Verke stream, the Verkiu Palace was founded in the 18th century. They were built by Vilnius bishop Ignotas Masalskis according to the designs of Laurynas Gucevičius and Martynas Knakfus.

The architectural ensemble of the Verkiu Palace with the nearby landscape park reflects the intersection of nature and culture of the rural areas of Central Europe at that time. As many as 15 buildings have survived in the territory of the palace - two palace offices and the foundations of the former central palace, old stables, a water mill, and other buildings. Currently, the Verkiu Palace complex belongs to the Botany Institute of the Nature Research Center, and cinematographers do not hesitate to visit it, for whom the palace often becomes a perfect filming location.

The homestead of the Traku Voke manor palace immortalized in another postage stamp was formed in the 19th century, when Count Juozapas Tiškevičius purchased Traku Voke from the then owners Dombrovolskii. The palace of the Traku Voke manor with neo-renaissance and neo-classicism features was designed according to the example of the residence of the Warsaw kings, and the park was designed by a famous French landscape architect of the time.

The palace of the Traku Voke manor is two-story, and the porch of the building is decorated with a plaster panel with the coat of arms of the Tiškevičius family. Like Verkių, Traku Voke's manor is loved not only by ordinary visitors, but also by filmmakers - various series and films based on historical events are also filmed here.
