Within the field of communication and journalism in the Principality of Andorra, the name of Àlex Lliteras shines as one of its great references, thanks to a career in which he cultivated both sports and general information, covering both written press media, like radio and television.
Born in Catalonia in 1961, Àlex Lliteras attended his first studies at the La Salle Bonanova school in Barcelona, where he also adopted his great love of basketball, which he practiced as a player and coach, and in which he stood out in sports information. After beginning law studies, he later oriented his professional career towards journalism, beginning his activity in news media such as Catalunya Radio or Cadena 13.
In 1991 he moved to Andorra where he began his journalistic activity covering sports information for the newspapers Informacions Diari and Diari d’ Andorra.
A decade later, he oriented his profession towards general information when he headed the news services of Andorra 7 radio to jump, a year later, to the National Radio of Andorra, where he will direct and present the morning program Ara i Aqui, which will reach the three thousand programs over 19 seasons.
He will combine his radio work with directing special programs for radio and television, such as those dedicated to electoral debates or the Modus Vivendi program, and he will write a biweekly column for the Sunday pages of the Diari d'Andorra.
Àlex Lliteras was also a founding member of the Associació de Professionals de la Comunicació d'Andorra. After his death on October 7, 2020, the sports journalism award named after him was established, dedicated to recognizing excellence in journalistic work in sports information.
The stamp issued in his memory reproduces a portrait made by the cartoonist Jordi Planellas.
