About Events - 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Team Nucleares S.A

The company EQUIPOS NUCLEARES S.A.,S.M.E. (ENSA) celebrates its 50th anniversary as a multisystem supplier of nuclear components for the primary circuit, also providing services to nuclear power plants. Correos joins this anniversary by issuing a stamp.

It was set up on 10 July 1973 with the aim of satisfying the manufacturing demands of the Spanish civil nuclear programme. The construction of the plant located in Maliaño, to the south of the Bay of Santander, was carried out between 1975 and 1976, during which time operations and the manufacture of the first components for the domestic market began.

ENSA is a benchmark in manufacturing, engineering, design, R&D&I, projects, procurement, inspection and service provision in more than 90 nuclear power plants of different designs around the world. Their experienced track records are the industrial strengths of both companies belonging to the SEPI Group (Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales).

In addition to having its own experience and developments in the area of equipment related to spent fuel and decommissioning, ENSA is heavily involved in fusion energy, participating in important projects such as ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), in both manufacturing and assembly. It is also responsible for on-site services related to operational maintenance and refuelling, the design and manufacture of containers for fuel storage and transport, spent fuel management, plant decommissioning and the promotion of innovation and research from its Advanced Technology Centre (CTA), whose accredited laboratories develop innovative manufacturing and inspection techniques.

ENSA's history includes five decades of passion for improvement, as reflected in its slogan, which highlights both its industrial activity and its social aspect, bearing in mind the principles of nuclear safety culture, health and safety, transparency, good corporate governance, sustainability, talent management through continuous training and equality. ENSA has had an Equality Plan since 2008, the first one registered in Cantabria and one of the first ten presented in Spain, to which was added the awarding of the Equality in the Company Distinction, which it has had since 2010. ENSA's strong commitment to complying with the principles and values set out in its code of conduct is aligned with its shareholders and its customers, collaborators and suppliers.
