A cheerful illustration in which a loudspeaker enveloped by a wave with musical notes and clearly evoking the summer, is the protagonist of the stamp that Correos issues on this occasion within the Euromed series.
The Postal Union for the Mediterranean was established in Rome on 15 March 2011 by 14 postal operators from the Mediterranean region under the umbrella of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Today it has up to 23 members.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments each year is the issuance of the stamp in the Euromed Postal series, in which a theme is chosen and all member countries of this organisation submit their designs freely.
This year the chosen theme is "Mediterranean Festivals".
With the arrival of the good weather, the desire for outdoor plans returns.
Enjoying music, the sun or the beach, surrounded by friends and people with the same objective, has led to more and more festivals being organised every summer.
The FIB, Primavera Sound Barcelona, Som Festival, Medusa Festival, are some of the many festivals that are held throughout the year against the backdrop of the Mediterranean. However, throughout the Spanish geography there are many festivals that are held as the Viña Rock, Mad Cool or the Resurrection Fest, and a long etcetera.
The Mediterranean countries, because of their climate, connections and the hospitality of the people who live there, are the perfect places to hold this type of event, which are an example of fun but also of cultural exchange and, why not, a good excuse to go sightseeing.
