This month of May Correos dedicates a stamp to the Europa series. This series is one of the most emblematic in the philatelic world. All the PostEurop member countries participate in it, each one of them presenting a stamp with its own design, but with a common theme.
However, for this 2023 stamp, as already happened in 2016 Posteurop held a competition to choose the stamp that would be issued by all the countries of the Europa series in 2023. The chosen theme was: PEACE, the greatest value of Humanity.
The winning design is the one that illustrates the stamp which was submitted by
Luxembourg and its authors are Linda Bos and Runa Egilsdottir.
According to their designers explain their design, "The design represents a visual metaphor for a society where people collaborate peacefully and harmoniously, where its people respect all cultures." They also refer to their inspiration in the symbol of the Celtic love knot, which represents two intertwined hearts.
As a differentiating factor, Spain presents the stamp in a premium sheet where a varied group of people carry different colored ribbons as a reference to the intertwined "hand-bows" of the stamp to reinforce the message of diversity and mutual respect, which are conditions to achieve and maintain peace.
