Drago Đurović, a renowned Montenegrin sculptor, was born in 1923 in Grlić, a village near Danilovgrad. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1951. In addition to sculpting, he was also active in painting, and was also known as an arts pedagogue. He was the author of monumental ensembles, monuments with figurines and reliefs, busts, portraits and torsos. Among his most prominent works are busts of Petar II Petrović Njegoš and Josip Broz Tito, as well as the Monument to the Partisan Soldier in Podgorica, the Monument to Fallen Fighters in Danilovgrad, the Monument to Executed Youth in Danilovgrad, and many others.He won multiple awards and recognitions, including Montenegro’s “July Thirteenth Award”, which he received in 1961.
